Expect to See More Movies Filmed in Hawaii
In 2006, Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle signed a bill that increased the tax credit for filming in Hawaii from 4% to 15% on the island of Oahu and 20% on Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island. The Hawaii film industry welcomed that change because they feel they have lost opportunities in recent years because other states have offered better incentives to film makers then Hawaii.
