Deep Sea Water is Big Business in Hawaii
One of Hawaii's most lucrative exports is desalinated seawater harvested from deep below the surface of the ocean in Hawaiian waters. The water is marketed as being very pure and rich in healthy minerals. Hawaiian deep sea water is popular in Japan and Korea and sales are also picking up in the United States, but this water doesn't come cheap. On the Web site of the Waikiki branch of Mahalo Hawaii Deep Sea Water, a 1.5 litre bottle of the desalinated seawater costs $3 to $6, depending on whether you buy 30 or 15 bottles. Those prices include shipping. I've been told a 1.5 liter bottle costs $4.50 in the Waikiki Store.Hawaiian Bottled Drinking Water
