Ben Affleck Might Play Magnum P.I.
It's not confirmed yet, but Tom Selleck's Magnum P.I. role might be played by Ben Affleck in the full length feature film version of the Hawaii-based television series. Universal Pictures has hired Rawson Marshall Thurber to write the screenplay and Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment will produce the movie. It is currently scheduled for release in 2007. The Magnum P.I. Television Series ran from 1980-1988. The stories were centered around the adventures of private investigator Thomas Magnum, a former Navy Intelligence officer hired by wealthy author Robin Masters to provide security for his Hawaii estate. The stories also featured proper Englishman Jonathan Higgans who ran the estate, and Magnum's pals Helicopter pilot T.C. and club manager Rick. The show was as much fun to watch for the beautiful Hawaii scenery as it was for the action-adventure stories. The Robin Masters estate scenes were filmed on the windward coast of Oahu, between Makapuu Point and Waimanalo. Here are some photos of the estate, from the Thomas on Islands Web site:
