It has been confirmed by the U.S. Navy that the "USS Hawaii" Virginia-class nuclear submarine will be based in Pearl Harbor after it is commissioned next year. The submarine will operate in shallow coastal waters and it will collect intelligence, transport SEALs, and it will be capable of striking targets hundreds of miles inland. See also:
