Cops-On-Top: Hawaii Special Olympics Fundraiser
Every Labor Day weekend, law enforcement officers from all over Hawaii sit on the rooftops of Safety Grocery Stores to raise money for the Hawaii Special Olympics. Last year's event raised $271,000 and they are hoping to raise $275,000 in 2006. Special Olympics is an international program founded in 1962 help people with intellectual disabilities develop self-confidence and social skills through sports training and competition. This year's Hawaii Special Olympic Games were held at the University of Hawaii May 26-28, 2006. For more information about this weekend's fundraiser and a list of participating Safeway Stores see:
