The rainbow trout fishing season opened on August 5 at the Puu Lua Reserver and the ditch systems in Kokee Park on the island of Kauai. Anglers must have Hawaii state fishing licenses, and they may fish from 5:30 am to 6:45 pm August 5-20 and weekends and holidays only August 21 through September 30, 2006. Four wheel drive vehicles are recommended for driving into the fishing areas. Kokee is the only place in Hawaii where rainbow trout can be caught.
