The organizers of the Honolulu Marathon have more then doubled the total prize money for the event, by increasing it from $65,000 to $150,000. Last year the male and female winners each received $15,000 and in 2006 they will each receive $40,000. The 34th annual Honolulu Marathon will take place on December 10, 2006. The headliners at the December 8th pre-race luau and concert will be world famous young ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro and rock musician Gavin DeGraw, Concert tickets are only available to marathon runners.
