On September 5, Island Air will add a daily direct flight from the Kapalua Airport in West Maui to the larger Kahului Airport in Central Maui. The flight will leave Kapalua at 11:15 am and will arrive in Kahului at 11:30 am. From Island Air Chief Operating Officer Les Murashige: "This non-stop route will make travel easier for West Maui residents and visitors traveling to an onward destination from Kahului, by allowing them to bypass the more crowded security lines at Kahului Airport, and freeing them from worries about traffic congestion on the heavily traveled road to Kahului".
