The first major storm of the season to enter Hawaiian waters has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. The storm known as "Daniel" is expected to pass over the Hawaiian islands on Friday and Saturday, bringing up to ten inches of rain and winds in the 40 to 70 mile per hour range. The eye of the storm is expected pass directly over the Big Island, but the other islands should also be prepared for significant amounts of wind and rain. The progress of Storm Daniel can be tracked on the Web site of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
