On March 15, 2006, Forrest Nelson of Los Angeles became the second person to swim across the 27 mile Kaiwi Channel, from Oahu to Molokai. It was a difficult swim that included several hours of nausea, swimming through trash lines, a shark scare, and crossing difficult currents.
