Big Island Produces the World's Largest Mango

World's Largest Mango The Guiness Book of World Records has confirmed that the mango grown by Colleen Porter of the Big Island is the world's heaviest mango, with a weight of 5 pounds 7 ounces. The mango is approximately the size of a human head. Porter received a certificate from Guiness, and she has it hanging on a wall in her home in a mango-wood frame. The record-size mango was grown in Porter's small avocado and mango orchard, and it is a Keitt Mango, a variety which normally reaches two or three pounds in size. For more information see the Honolulu Star Bulletin article by Karin Stanton, "Mongo Mango Makes the Rounds".
