The Guiness Book of World Records has confirmed that the mango grown by Colleen Porter of the Big Island is the world's heaviest mango, with a weight of 5 pounds 7 ounces. The mango is approximately the size of a human head. Porter received a certificate from Guiness, and she has it hanging on a wall in her home in a mango-wood frame. The record-size mango was grown in Porter's small avocado and mango orchard, and it is a Keitt Mango, a variety which normally reaches two or three pounds in size. For more information see the Honolulu Star Bulletin article by Karin Stanton, "Mongo Mango Makes the Rounds".
