Pro Surfer Dies at the Banzai Pipeline
On Saturday, December 3, twenty-five year old Malik Joyeaux of Tahiti was killed while surfing at the Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu. He wiped out on a wave that broke his board in half and ripped the leash off his ankle. After a frantic 10 minute search, he was found underwater 200 yards away from where he fell. Malik Joyeaux was a top pro surfer who had been featured on the covers of surfing magazines. His death is a tragedy for the entire international surfing community.
