The Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources is looking into the possibility of creating a new lagoon and beach area next to the War Memorial Natatorium and in front of the Waikiki Aquarium. The lagoon would be similar to one of the Ko Olina Lagoons in West Oahu, and would be approximately 200 feet by 150 feet in size, with an offshore breakwater. Right now this is only an idea that is being explored. Another possibility being considered is creating two smaller lagoon beaches.
