The Lion King is Coming to Hawaii in 2007
Cheetah Company is bringing the 6-time Tony Award winning musical The Lion King to the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall in Honolulu in the Fall of 2007. About 200 of the fixed seats in the concert hall will be removed to allow the show's African animal characters to parade from the house to the stage in the opening scene. There will be preview performances September 15 and 16 and regular performances will run from September 17 through October 28, 2007. If the show is successful in Honolulu it may be extended through December 10. Ticket prices will begin at $36 per seat. Tickets are on sale now for Outrigger hotel room and ticket packages and also for groups of 20 or more. Individual tickets booked without a hotel room will go on sale in April. Grow Hawaiian Festival in Kona
The 3rd annual Grow Hawaiian Festival will take place February 24, 2007 at the Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The event will include a continuous program of scientific speakers and Hawaiian culture demonstrations, hands-on activities for all ages, informational booths, and guided tours of the gardens.

First Hawaii Superferry Ship To Launch This Week
The Hawaii Superferry expects to begin offering high speed ferry service between the Hawaiian Islands in July of 2007. The first of two Superferries will be launched on Thursday, January 18, 2007 from the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. The new ship cost nearly $100 million to build and it is larger then two football fields. After being launched the ship will go through a series of sea trials and it will be delivered to Hawaii in the Spring of 2007. This first ferry will offer transportation between the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Work is underway on the second Hawaii Superferry and it is scheduled for delivery in early 2009. The second ferry will provide service between Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a state holiday in Hawaii that will be celebrated on Monday, January 15 in 2007. Celebrations in Honolulu will include a bell ringing ceremony at the Nagasaki Peace Bell, a Monday morning parade through Waikiki, and a full day of events in Kapiolani Park.

Hawaiian Host is well known for their chocolate covered macadamia nuts and now they are introducing a new organic line of products called "Pure Aloha Organics". The nuts for those products are grown without using chemicals and they have been certified as organic by the Hawaii Organic Farmer's Association. The new product line includes chocolate covered macadamia nuts and lightly salted macadamia nuts. Both can be purchased at Don Quijote stores in Hawaii. The new products will be introduced to the world at the 32nd annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco January 21-23, 2007.
