A Reggae Music Party at Hawaiian Waters Park

Bob Fest at Hawaiian Waters The 3rd annual Bob Fest 2007 reggae music block party will take place Friday, February 9, from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am at the Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park in Kapolei on the southwest side of Oahu. Entertainers will include Grammy Award winner Lauryn Hill, Jamaica's Capeleton, and many of Hawaii's top Reggae artists. Must be age 18 or older to attend.

    Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Will Close for 6 Months

    Ritz Carlton Kapalua Hotel The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the Kapalua Resort area of Maui will close for six months, between June and December of 2007, for a $95 million renovation. The number of units in the hotel will be reduced from 548 hotel rooms to 363 hotel rooms and 107 full ownership condominium units. The condominiums are expected to start selling for about $900,000 each, and they will probably be rented to vacationers for around $500 per night. The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is a luxury hotel on 50 acres of land on the northwest shore of Maui, inside the Kapalua master planned resort area.

    The Lion King is Coming to Hawaii in 2007

    Cheetah Company is bringing the 6-time Tony Award winning musical The Lion King to the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall in Honolulu in the Fall of 2007. About 200 of the fixed seats in the concert hall will be removed to allow the show's African animal characters to parade from the house to the stage in the opening scene. There will be preview performances September 15 and 16 and regular performances will run from September 17 through October 28, 2007. If the show is successful in Honolulu it may be extended through December 10. Ticket prices will begin at $36 per seat. Tickets are on sale now for Outrigger hotel room and ticket packages and also for groups of 20 or more. Individual tickets booked without a hotel room will go on sale in April.     Queen Liliuokalani's Home is Now a Museum

    Washington Place Honolulu Washington Place in the historic capitol district of Honolulu is one of the oldest residences in Hawaii. It was built by a wealthy sea captain in the 1840's and it became the home of the future Queen Liliuokalani when she married the captain's son. The queen was arrested inside Washington Place before she was deposed and she died in one of the downstairs bedrooms. After Queen Liliuokalani died, her home became the Hawaii governor's mansion. Today it is a museum and it can be toured by the public if reservations are made in advance.

    Grow Hawaiian Festival in Kona

    The 3rd annual Grow Hawaiian Festival will take place February 24, 2007 at the Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The event will include a continuous program of scientific speakers and Hawaiian culture demonstrations, hands-on activities for all ages, informational booths, and guided tours of the gardens.

    First Hawaii Superferry Ship To Launch This Week

    The Hawaii Superferry expects to begin offering high speed ferry service between the Hawaiian Islands in July of 2007. The first of two Superferries will be launched on Thursday, January 18, 2007 from the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. The new ship cost nearly $100 million to build and it is larger then two football fields. After being launched the ship will go through a series of sea trials and it will be delivered to Hawaii in the Spring of 2007. This first ferry will offer transportation between the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Work is underway on the second Hawaii Superferry and it is scheduled for delivery in early 2009. The second ferry will provide service between Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii.

    Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a state holiday in Hawaii that will be celebrated on Monday, January 15 in 2007. Celebrations in Honolulu will include a bell ringing ceremony at the Nagasaki Peace Bell, a Monday morning parade through Waikiki, and a full day of events in Kapiolani Park.

The new products will be introduced to the world at the 32nd annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco January 21-23, 2007.
