Hawaii and China Sign Tourism Agreement

Governor Lingle, Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi, Lt. Governor Aiona This week, the vice premier of China and the governor of Hawaii signed an agreement that will encourage travel between China and Hawaii and provide a program for Chinese tourism professionals to be trained in Hawaii. There are still obstacles to overcome before large groups of Chinese can visit Hawaii, because Chinese visitors to the United States are required to have a visa, and because the Chinese government limits overseas travel by its citizens.
